Molasses Cookies

Made Famous By: Heather McMullin These are a must try!!! I hounded the person who brought them to the
cabin one winter to get the recipe from his girlfriend who lived in
Wisconsin for a whole year!!!! Seriously! I personally like my cookies soft and chewy
and these fit the bill. They taste like a soft chewy
gingerbread cookie!!
Mix together:
3/4 C Shortening
1 C Sugar
1 Jumbo egg
When mixed add in:
1/4 C Molasses (Green Label)
1/2 tsp Vanilla

Mix Dry ingredients in another bowl:
2 C Flour
1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Cloves
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp Ginger
1 pinch Salt

-Gradually add dry to wet-mix slow.
-Roll the dough into a ball shape and then roll the balls in granulated sugar and place (unflattened) on a cookie sheet.
-350 oven 10-15 minutes
-Look for cracks in tops and don't over bake. Leave them on the cookie sheet for about 3 minutes before you move them.

*****Usually I dip each cookie ball in water first and then roll it in the sugar. This creates a sugary lace coating that is so delicate.*****
