Rice Krispies on Crack, HALLOWEEN STYLE

Oprah's Life Class #1

Ego.

Before I watched Oprah’s life class I would have told you that I have never ever had an ego.  That is until she said this:

“It shows up every single time you buy something you can’t afford and you didn’t need it.  It shows up every single time you extend yourself in a way that you know is not the truth.  It shows up in all of the stuff, in all of the things and trying to get your kids all of the stuff and all of the things.  It shows up every time that somebody disagrees with you and you feel offended by their disagreement.  Your ego is your defense.  It shows up in every way that you pretend to be somebody that you are not.  This is a lesson that continues forever for all of us because we are living with the true self, our true nature and with our ego nature and trying to balance the two.  There is so much to talk about when it comes to this ego thing.  It is wryly it is deceptive.”

Having it put this way it is clear we all suffer from our ego getting the better of us now and again.  In my church we call it “the natural man”.  It is in us all and the test is, what do we do when our “ego” or “natural man” rears its ugly head.  Each time we have a choice.  Do we conquer the ego/natural man or do we let it overpower us?

I encourage you all to conquer.

Conquer and each time you will have become a little better, a little stronger, a little more of the person you hope to be.

**A word of caution...once you make these babies you will NEVER EVER eat the regular kind of rice krispies again.**

Rice Krispies on Crack
1large box Special K
1-2 C Slivered Almonds
3/4 lb. Butter
1/2 C White Sugar
1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
1 Bag Marshmallows

1.  In a large bowl combine Special K and Slivered Almonds.
2.  On a stove top in a large sauce pan melt the butter.
3.  Once the butter is melted add the white sugar and the brown sugar.
4.  Then add the Vanilla.  (mixture will bubble violently, totally normal)
5.  Once the sugars have melted add the whole pack of marshmallows.
6.  When everything is melted immediately pour over the Special K and almonds.
7.  Mix thoroughly.
8.  Once thoroughly mixed pour in to a 9 x 10 pan and press down until even.  If you want thinner treats pour into a bar pan and press down until even.

**I used a bar pan so that I could cut our fun Halloween shapes.  After I cut out the shapes I used orange, white, and chocolate candy melts to dip the shaped into.  While the chocolate was still wet I decorated with different Halloween Sprinkles.  So much fun and festive!!**

  3. Heather, I love your blog. i love how you have made it not only a recipe blog but bits and pieces of yourself. It makes it really fun to read. I can't wait to make the Ina Garten's Tomato soup. I just need it to cool down a little bit here in Vegas to feel OK about busting out the soup! :)
